Reuse, Recycle, Plant Trees
In some unavoidable ways, making furniture uses up resources. It is extremely important to me that I try to minimise the impact of what I do and I do so in the following ways -
- Tree Planting - I use a company called Ecologi who automatically receives a payment from me when a sale goes through. They then plant 3 mangrove trees in Madagascar - mangroves can store up to 4x the carbon of tropical rainforests!
- Recycling - Either recycled cardboard boxes that I buy in, or much more often, old boxes and packing material I get from nearby businesses. Your box might not look perfect but it is always secure, well packed and relatively planet friendly
- Using reclaimed materials where possible - if I can get my hands on reclaimed wood I do, and make available products in which these are the materials used
- Donating - After tax I make donations to the 'Stop Ecocide Foundation', as well as Unicef, Shelter, Free the Slaves, and British Red Cross. I support the works of Animist Arts, the Emerald, Weird Studies and Future Fossils via Patreon, because I believe in the importance of the conversations they are having (and I really like listening to their podcasts!)
